New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden – “Native American cigarette sales must end”

Bootleg cigarettes trafficked on Indian reservations kill hundreds of New Yorkers every year, the city health commissioner testified Monday.

Commissioner Thomas Frieden testified in Brooklyn Federal Court in support of city lawyers who want to shut down six cigarette dealers on Long Island’s Poospatuck Indian Reservation who they claim are illegally peddling tax-free smokes to the public.
